Written specially for tourism businesses

Some businesses are daunted by the prospect of tackling access and many think it will be expensive. This course has been developed to help you improve the visitor experience for all your visitors; from an elderly couple who struggle with steps to a single traveller who is hard of hearing, and a family juggling children and luggage to a teenager managing diabetes. In fact, anyone who might just need a little extra help.

This course will help you to:

  • recognise the opportunities accessibility offers your business
  • improve your understanding of how you manage your visitors’ experience
  • identify practical and low-cost ways to improve your business
  • provide better information to potential visitors
  • write your own Access Statement
  • learn from other businesses in the region
  • study at your own pace

The course is divided into sections. You can study in your own time, focusing on as much or as little as you need to in one session.

Interactive from start to finish

The course includes video clips with comments from visitors, plus ideas from other businesses. And we ask you questions along the way to get you thinking. As you work through the course you will be given the tools  to create your own Access Statement as well as an action plan for your business.  And when you have completed the course you will receive a certificate.  "I came away with the knowledge and confidence to produce a comprehensive Access Statement. It really was a great course”: Chris Calvert, Bamburgh Castle.

Logon today

The course is free for tourism businesses. All you need to do is to register once and then you can return and log-in as many times as you (or your staff) need to until you have completed the course.
