The National Awards

The 2011 Enjoy England Awards for Excellence ceremony took place in April 2011 in Birmingham.

Six North East tourism businesses achieved gold and silver awards:

• Lucy McEnaney, Customer Relations Agent at Event Durham won a gold award for Outstanding Customer Service
• St Cuthbert's House, Northumberland won a silver award for the Bed & Breakfast/Guest Accommodation of the Year category
• Rockliffe Hall Hotel, Darlington won a silver award in the Business Tourism Award category
• Langley Castle Hotel, Northumberland won a silver award in the Small Hotel of the Year category
• Battlesteads B&B won a silver award in the Sustainable Tourism Award category
• Durham City Tourist Information Centre won a silver award in the Tourism Information Centre of the Year category

Re-naming of Awards for 2012

These national awards have now been re-named the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence.

They are open to tourism businesses, tourism support organisations and the thousands of excellent people who work in them.

VisitEngland wants to ensure that all businesses in all parts of the country have an opportunity to participate and, for the first time (for the 2012 Awards), businesses without local competitions can apply directly via the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence website.
